A New Ritual
Why mushroom coffee?
People ask me that all the time.
To put it bluntly...
Because it's good for you, dummy.
Okay, maybe that's a slight oversimplification, but it's pretty close to the truth.
I've spent most of my life chasing things that make me a little better than I was yesterday. Exercise. Yoga. Meditation. Plant-based food. Long bike rides. Reading. Whatever helps me become healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually.
People love to pigeonhole vegans as emotionally overindulgent, insufferable cultists.
In my experience, most of us are simply following the science as we understand it.
When good evidence points toward something that's likely to improve our health, why wouldn't we pay attention?
That's how I ended up drinking mushroom coffee.
Functional mushrooms have been used in traditional practices for centuries, and today there's growing research into their potential benefits. Different mushrooms are being studied for things like supporting immune health, cognitive function, and helping the body adapt to stress.
The science is still evolving.
And that's exactly what fascinates us.
So when we started building Muse, creating our own mushroom coffee wasn't a marketing idea.
It was something we already believed in.
Around here we like to joke that mushrooms were brought here by aliens to help us escape the Matrix.
Is that true?
Probably not.
It's more fun to think that it is, though.
The real magic happens because we have our own alchemist: James "Jimmy" Bardsley.
Despite the name, Jimmy isn't our accountant.
He's one part Doc Brown, two parts Salvador Dalí, and all heart.
He's our Batman.
While the rest of us are out front running the restaurant, Jimmy is in the cave reading, researching, experimenting, and asking, "What if?"
He's endlessly curious, and that's exactly the kind of person you want helping build a company like Muse.
When we decided to create our own mushroom coffee, Jimmy didn't just throw a few mushrooms into a bag and call it a day. He carefully curated a blend around one simple idea:
How do we create a better daily ritual for creative people?
Artists.
Musicians.
Writers.
Entrepreneurs.
Dreamers.
Anyone who believes that better ideas begin with better habits.
The mushrooms in our blend were selected because they're among those being studied for their potential to support focus, mental clarity, and overall well-being. Every ingredient was chosen intentionally because we wanted to create something we'd proudly drink ourselves every single day.
Our goal wasn't to create another wellness product.
It was to create a ritual.
The kind of morning ritual we wished existed.
One that encourages you to slow down for a few minutes, gather your thoughts, and begin the day with intention.
Drink it black.
Add coffee.
Add matcha, like I do.
That's entirely up to you.
Freedom is being able to choose the ritual that works for you.
For us, mushroom coffee isn't about replacing coffee.
It's about expanding the conversation around what our daily rituals can look like.
If your morning ritual helps you slow down, be more intentional, and start your day feeling inspired, that's a pretty good place to begin.
Welcome to the ritual.
PRO TIP: Add our ceremonial grade matcha to your MUSE mushroom coffee when you want a little extra kick. I've been doing this for about three weeks now, usually in the middle of the day, and I'm loving it. It gives me a nice boost of energy, and I've personally noticed that my digestion has been better since I started drinking the two together.
Is it the matcha? The mushrooms? The combination? The aliens?
I have no idea.
I just know it's working for me.
